The prisoners received three meager meals per day. In the morning, they received "coffee" substitute, or diluted herbal brew “tea”.
The noon meal consisted of tasteless soup, the main ingredients of which were potatoes, rutabaga, and small amounts of groats, and rye flour.
Dinner consisted of black bread, served with occasional small piece of sausage, or margarine, or a tablespoon of marmalade or cheese.
These meager food rations designed to keep the forced labor live for a while.
Once the inmates could not work anymore, they were sent to the gas chambers. (source; Wollheim Memorial)
