Columbia is a Gold Rush Era town located at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, California.
Columbia was founded in 1850 at the height of the Gold Rush.
By 1852 Columbia had already over 150 stores, shops, saloons, and three churches.
At the late 1800’s it had a population of over 25,000.
Today, Columbia is a very small town of about 2000 residents, with plenty of “Gold Rush” buildings and remnants.
A visit to Columbia State Historic Park, is a visit to the remnants of a real gold rush boomtown.
