The Making of a 'Saturated Moon' Step 4: Grey Full Moon

Glenalta, South Australia

Equipment:
William Optics Megrez 90, f/6.9 with 4x Powermate (FL 2,484mm approx.)
Losmandy AZ-8 mount
Hutech Modified Canon 40D
1 x 1/100 second exposure (chosen from 80 frames) @ ISO 250
Processed in:
PIPP (Planetary Imaging PreProcessor) for image quality ranking
Registax V6 for wavelet sharpening & Photoshop for further processing (see below).

Image Auto Colour adjustment works well to align the RGB wavelengths and 'remove' the red image tone to produce a final Grey Full Moon. I also used a Median Filter to reduce noise in the single frame image along with Smart Sharpening to increase edge detail.

Note: the process I used here is similar to that described in detail by Mike Salway: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/63-656-0-0-1-0.html hide exif
