20110918 - Coo Baby!

Well, it's confirmed - the rear LCD is decidedly, definitely dead.
I got the mini-screwdriver out, whipped the back off and took the lcd out, cleaned the connectors hoping it was just a dirty contact, but nope. On the plus side, it's really easy to get in and out, so it's just a case of buying a new one and sticking it in...

The other good news is that the clock battery works. I woke up this morning and suddenly remembered that there's a video output - so I plugged the camera into the telly and set the date and time that way! I also did a few other things like turning the image preview off, no point if the screen isn't working - might make the battery last a bit longer (the screen backlight still works).

But it still works fine though. Counting the days until the new one is announced?

Sweet little moo cow!
So glad that your camera can be easily repaired! I'm impressed that you can do this yourself! I had to send my Canon back to the factory to have its sensor cleaned.... (I'm scared that I'll break something...)

Charming subject and a lovely high key composition. Pleased to see you have tracked down the problem with your camera. I would not have had the confidence to dig into things the way you have OR attempt a repair. I am most impressed. We DO become dependent on LCD screens do we not? V

Yay for replacement LCDs :o)) Cracking light but I don't like this girl's ear-rings much though!!

Very nice light on this cute calf. Good to hear you can fix the camera screen. Looks like you will be waiting until the mark 3 comes out before you upgrade now.

Very glad that the camera is repairable. You sound like a dab hand at electronics. The little chap looks just about ripe and ready for Market :0)
