20100321 - More Sink

LOL - by the use of a few layers and blending modes in PhotoMangler, I seem to have duplicated the horrible tonemapped look of HDR software - complete with ugly halos!
The cartoony look does seem to suit this sci-fi sink thingy on Ladybower though.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
1/5s f/16.0 at 20.0mm iso50 full exif

Wonderful depth of colours and a spot on composition ... V

Intense mangling, and it does work with the subject matter. It's as if the clouds are being sucked in to the white hole. Wonder what it does with them?
:-)

That works really well here and looks better than my full HDR version.

You succeeded in getting that HDR look! Actually, it works here.

Sometimes we get losrt in the process. I saw Colin's version of this last week. I'm not a big fan of surreal HDR but it does seem to match this scene. I'm most impressed you stumbled across it.

I agree. The look does fit.

But you have a great composition as a starting point, no matter which method you used. I like it.

Fascinating shot. It definitely has a surreal sci-fi feel to it. Very nice processing work.
