Well, I think peeps were right about the white bit in the original version - it wasn't a river, though the river Cover is just beyond it - it's actually a snow-covered field.
So, with a bit of scaling and a bit of cloning I've, err, removed it! Not very 'photographic', but there you go... :o)
I think it does look better for it though!
