Hi Dario, PAL's website is a good source for convenient and straight flights to the US. You can also try Asiana or China Airlines which may be cheaper but offer longer flight times and a stop at their countries. Hope this helps.

Hi Gloria,

Re seat arrangements I suggest you talk with your travel agent or whomever you bought your tickets from. Since you will be travelling with children and a senior citizen your group will be among the first to board. Usually you will be assigned near the front of whatever class you are travelling.

RP-C7475 is still in Taipei where its seats are being upgraded. Other PAL 747's will follow the same upgrading.

Does anyone know what's up with RP-C7475? I've not seen a movement on ACARS since 08Feb. That's too long for it to be out for new seats.

Hi N773PH, I don't think RP-C8168 will be reconfigured. However, N751PR has just undergone that and so will N752PR, N753PR & RP-C7475.

And also will the new refurbished 747s still have the 433 seat arrangement?

Hi A340. Apologies for the delay but I promise to make time to post at least one Int'l trip this week.

N754PR is currently being refurbished and should be doing revenue flights again in about 3 weeks. The 747s will be done first before the 340s which are newer planes but I have no idea what registration 747 is next.

I have checked fares for PR103 and PR102 from LAX-MNL-LAX on November 2008. Philippineairlines.com is giving me $16,000 for 4 Mabuhay Class tickets. Last year, I remember checking the same date and it was $8,990. Does anyone know why the price doubled?
Is it because of the cabin reconfiguration on the 747s because both of these flights are being operated by 747-400s? A response is greatly appreciated! Thank you

the 747 looks old to me because it my first time to fly to LA with that kind of airplane when i boarded the plane at manila it was so hot inside the jumbo one of the flight stewardess said "where using ground temperature probably we will increase the airconditioner after pull back... damn i'd rather choose the 340 because at the moment i board the plane a fog from the bulkhead welcomes me.... its a thumbs up...

I asked one of the PAL 747 Captains and he simply estimates that the cabin reconfigurations will be done starting 2008.

On perhaps what one might consider a better note, PAL was supposed to add 2 747s this year. the planes were to have come from South Africa & PAL would have had 7 747s in the fleet - thus the announcements made months back about adding frequency to the West Coast routes. Unfortunately both planes were nearing major checks and so PAL backed out. Who knows but these couple of planes might have entered the fleet with new cabin configurations.
