SIL Aviation, based at Nasuli, provided support to SIL linguists, literacy workers and others working in minority languages in the southern Philippines. Work began in 1953 with Nasuli being established in the mid-50s. Much of the SIL work in the south has been completed and the need for the aircraft diminished. SIL gave up the lease on the airstrip and a third of the Nasuli Center in 2008 and moved the airplanes to another nearby airstrip. SIL closed the remaining facility in 2010.

Hi Jim, why was Nasuli closed down and where did the planes that parked there go? Thanks.

I worked in that radio tower/shop from 1993 - 1996 flight following SIL flights and daily radio scheds with remote translation teams.
