Images taken at Fish Springs, Tooele County(west desert), Utah. As you can see from the images this "long-distance" traveler is in pretty bad shape and is starting a wing molt with new green feathers, beautiful anyway. Nikon 600mm F4.0 AF-S lens Nikon D-200 Body. Thanks for your great pics. Went to see this bird at Fish Springs today. I like Pete Dunne's description the best. He says something to the effect that the Painted Bunting looks like it was created by a 3-year-old who went crazy with the crayons. Those aren't the exact words, but that's the idea. Thanks for sharing.

Great photos Paul. No doubt about what he is even if he is in the middle of the Great Basin Desert in Utah.
