It's not all bad news when it comes to the Amazon Basin. There are many indigenous tribes such as the Sarayacu and other Kichwa groups which have been successful in defending their land, their rights, and the rights of their land, from mining and petroleum companies. Aiding in this effort is Ecuador's new constitution which is the first ever to grant actual rights to nature!
