The Mast!

Off Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

The mast is essential on a sailboat, for without it the boat could not move!

But lying there, on the floor, suddenly i saw and realized that
its ropes are even more important.
Without them, the mast will fall, for the winds are powerful, and the boat is heavy!
Yes, the mast is able to stand, and move the boat, thanks to the ropes which are tightly sprung in four directions around it.

When was the last time you, the mast, looked at ... your own ropes, tightly sprung around you ?

Time has passed by. Now several years later, i've learned about and can recognize port and starboard shrouds, headstays, backstays, main and jib halyards, just to name a few... :) each definitely having its own precise function.
