This farm tries to recreate how a family would have lived in the area in the 1840's with an original farmhouse from the time period moved to the site. All that they do not have on the demonstration farm were a milk cow and milk goats because of logistics of milking them daily all of the other wildlife were of breeds from that time period. The original owner of the farm house produced, milk, cheeses, meats and other products many of which he sold to local residents. The kitchen in this house like many of the period was in a seperate building in the back to help reduce the chance of fires in the main house and to reduce the amount of heat in the house during the long hot Texas summers.
