The homes were both frame and brick and included many built by noted architechts in the state of Texas. Most of the homes are currently occupied and kept as private residences while a few are owned by historic societies and non profit groups. The area is just west of Downtown San Antonio near the Pioneer Mill whose owner built one of the larger estates in the area.
