Baker Hotel -east and south sides

The street that was to the south is Main Street which parralled the RxR tracks and the hotel was right across from the Railroad Depot where people of means would come to the town to buy cattle and oil. The hotel was abandoned sometimes back in the 1970's, a local said that he swam in the pool one time in the late 1970's as a kid but the hotel was already closed. The structure is still very sound with few roof leaks though the area gets little rain. There is some recent graffiti in some of the rooms visible from the street but most of the rooms looked realively unscathed other than the windows all being gone from the building. The one resident that I talked too said that the downstairs area is still very ornate and in reasonabley good shape when he had a chance to walk through it a couple years ago. It looks like the entry areas were remodeled sometimes back in the 1960's with the diamond pattern tilework.

Could make an interesting condominium project or large B+B for people who come to the area to hunt during the season and the town is just off of Interstate 20 where many hotels are being put up about 25 miles away in Sweetwater.
