The Fire did not progress as far down this end of the group of buildings but someone observed that the Condom Sense Store roof was on fire and helped get the staff out safely, most of the other businesses were either closed at the time or evacuated quickly when notified of the fire. When demolition of the block occured it was determined that this group of buildings was a later addition to the block built between the time of the Arcadia section (1924) and 1938 when a photo was taken showing the whole block with glass block fronts and tile in an Art Deco style. Since the Art Deco style actually started in the late 20's overseas and then progressed to the US after that and then of course Dallas and Texas Celebrated the states 100th Birthday in 1936 the construction could have occured before the big Texas Centenial which was based at Fair Park in Dallas which was just about 6 miles away.
The Original Arcadia part of the block was built with ACME Bricks, both face and fire bricks. This edition was built with Palmer Bricks (no date on bricks) and the back and side walls were three bricks thick with steal I Beams supporting steal I Beams in the roof and a heavy wood structure built for the roof. Some later remodel of the store fronts later used Ferris Bricks (no date on brick).
