4th Anniversary of the US War in Iraq at Dallas Texas

The protest was held down the block from the location where it looks like the George W Bush Presidential Library will be located on the edge of the SMU campus in Highland Park, Texas which is a town within the city of Dallas, Texas.

The protest started at the DART parking lot at aproximately 5pm and proceeded across Highway 75 which is the main feeder highway from Downtown Dallas to the Suburbs of Richardson and Garland and the protestors decided to stop on the bridge over the highway for aproximately 15 minutes which affected traffic flow on the highway and on the feeder streets. The local television networks had three helicopters in the air over the scene which added more commotion to the situation. The protestors then proceeded further west on Mockingbird to the edge of the SMU campus by the Gerald R Ford Football Stadium and then turned to a small city park space off of Airline Road. The Anti War Protestors had a small stage set up where they made speaches, sang and performed music while just a block away the Dallas Sherrif's Dept had a Mobile Command Unit, over 20 vehicles inlcuding a large bus that could be used for a large paddy wagon staged and manned ready for anything that could occur. Inside the stadium bleacher entrance areas themselves there were dozens of police officers in full riot gear with sheilds, pepper ball guns and other gear ready to stream out to the site just yards away.

The event was still going on when I left just before sunset.
