Small Expo and Static Display Outside of the Event

Several suppliers, manufacturers, builders, retailers and other businesses had exhibits at the Energy Expo with representatives available to discuss energy conservation and other energy related topics.

Peterbuilt also had on display two new hybrid local delivery and long haul trucks on display. The longhaul truck is the prototype still being tested but in current tests it is showing excellent energy savings along with less wear on the powertrain system in real world style tests where the trucks engine is used to power systems as truckers actually use them. Since the systems hybrid portion takes over when the truck is parked and the diesel engine isn't running to power the cab and other equipment on the truck the vehicle isn't idling at night or during the drivers downtime which reduces pollution levels, wear and tear on the engine, fuel usage (can be up to 40% reduction in fuel usage and a full years life on an engine for three years usage so large fleet operators gain four years usage on a truck versus current industry standard three years usage along with lower fuel usage) and vibration wear and tear that a running engine causes on the truck frame and body. Also the truck does not have a stick shift system but just a pushbutton which engages the electromechanical transmission syste. The local delivery box style truck also does have some energy savings but not as much as the long haul truck but does show some savings in fuel usage.

Some regional car dealerships also had on display several hybrid vehicles that they currently offer for sale.
