Upon Reassembly, look closely for the tiny slots which mate with tabs on the plastic front trim ring.
If the adhesive is no longer sticky, apply a couple of dabs of contact cement sparingly to the ring before reassembly.

What's the secret to getting the front tube to stay in place? Mine is no longer locking to the front element edges.
