Yes, there is a lot of Infrared in lightning.

This was a time exposure (30 sec) taken through an R72, so it is an infrared picture with some far red. The trees were in silhouette of the lightning bolt.
Trees do not emit infrared, rather reflect it.
The red strobe on the airplane was a relatively strong IR emitter, but obviously weaker than the lightning. Thanks for your comment, though I'm not sure why you want to argue with me.

Not sure how this is infrared. The plants should be emitting far more infrared radiation than an airplane. Still an amazing picture though

Spectacular. You can almost feel the raw energy and power as it streaks across and lights up the sky. The stunning red background enhances the fury of the scene, leaving one with a sense of awe. A picture skillfully taken.
