The Shrine of Remembrance

"This holy place commemorates Victoria's glorious dead.
They gave their all, even life itself, that others may live in freedom and peace.
Forget them not."

This shrine was built in remembrance of the men and women of Victoria who served and died in World War I. As time went on it has become a shrine in remembrance of the brave in all of Australia who served their country.

A special feature of the Shrine is the Ray of Light.
Thanks to the combined skills of the astronomer, the mathematician and the surveyor the Ray of Light falls on 'LOVE' on the Stone of Remembrance at 11 a.m. on the 11th of November and will continue to do so for 5,000 years at least.

It felt like holy ground.
