You Did GREAT, Petesie. Puppies are not easy to do and I can spend a good couple of hours trying to get 20 or 30 shots that I like. These are wonderful. For starters, the pups are absolutely fantastic looking. I forgot what the mix was (blue heeler and what?). They are priceless, really. If I didn't have two dogs and if I lived anywhere near these pups I would seriously want one.
Now, some pointers (forgive me if I've given you these tips already). Get down on the floor and make obscene and silly noises. Sharp, staccato noises work best at first because they have the element of surprise. Make the noise after you've focused through the viewfinder. Be prepared to snap the shot as soon as the sound ushers forth from you. Most of the pups will look up and they will prick up their ears too. Depending on how old they are, they might not all pay attention. Next plan of attach is to make a long drawn out noise... a long razzberry (bronx cheer) or a long inflective whistle (I wear several whistles of different pitch and timbre and sound around my neck whenever I have a dog shoot) or, this one is great, can you imiatate a cat in distress? That gets a lot of dogs.
Okay, once you have the attention problem licked you can progress to position. If they are very squirmy and wont stay in one place long enough for you to focus, get some props... set out a flower pot for each pup and put them in. Then focus and make your ridiculous noises. I guarantee you will get some good results.
Now then, i am a little worried about your last four shots on this page... you aren't giving these adorable kids away to a good home now, are you? :-)
