"The Family Bench"

Today the weather was beautiful and I was working outside. I took a look at what I call the “family bench”. My oldest photo of it was taken in 1961….the baby in my arms, the youngest of my five, turns 44 next week. Where have the years gone? My Mom is 53 in this photo…only three years older than my oldest son. She has her right arm around him. The baby I am holding is standing behind me in the 2001 photo holding her baby girl. Family memories to treasure
of the bench that sat in my folks yard so long and now is in mine. It is in terrible shape as you can see from the photo above. I think it is time to sand it down, work on it and make it a “family bench” again. From the photo I think it has had at least four coats of paint and I don’t remember the original color....perhaps white.
I’ll have to ask my brother. The latest photo I have of the family on the bench is in 2002,
and the one below was taken in 1998. Much too precious to let it decay.

That bench is special. I love your photo and all of the layers of paint but it certainly looks very worth saving.

I agree with Coleen. Too many memories to sand it down. Beautiful!

Don't sand it down---you will sand away all the people who sat on it. Just do a little preservation.

I long to sit with you watching the day fade in brilliant Texas style as you share jewels like this Petesie.
