Members of the New Braunfels Area Quilt Guild

Last night I attended the unveiling of the 2005 Hope Hospice memorial quilt, “Memories in Bloom”. It gave me the opportunity to introduce you to two wonderful organizations, Hope Hospice and the New Braunfels Area Quilt Guild.

Hope Hospice was our lifeline for months, and I can never say enough about the wonderful people at Hope Hospice. They were with me every step in our journey and I will never forget them. Last night I met several members of the guild who helped design and sew the memorial quilt. I will be forever grateful to them, too.

If we desired we were asked to bring an article of clothing or fabric that was dear to our loved one. The quilt honors 84 Hope Hospice patients who died in 2005.

John died on May 19, 2005, but as Jane Marie, the bereavement counselor, said last night, love and memories live on. I want to thank all of the people who helped us through that time in our lives, and the wonderful ladies who memorialized John and others with their talent.

John's square can be seen below and the entire quilt can be seen here: http://www.pbase.com/petesie/home_2005
It thought it was so special that the fabric used in the pot with John’s name was of Black-eyed Susans ….. one my favorite photo subjects.

What a wonderful quilt. John's flowers are from your butterfly garden! You paid the two groups a very nice tribute.

This is a lovely memorial. And, I love the creative way they did John's pot. Two very wonderful groups and you have paid them a nice tribute, also.
