Wimberley, Texas

Grandson Alec, his cousin Hugh, Mom and Aunt went to a Harry Potter party last night from 10 to
midnight here in Wimberley. Kate and Abbie stayed home with me....Since I am your common Muggle...I think that is what I am, I don't quite understand it all.....
but they participated in a Trivia Contest, a Hogwart's Feast, and just lots of fun. Then at midnight they were able to purchase
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". Alec spent the night with me and I took this around 12:30.
A little after 1:00 am I turned out the light..he had fallen asleep. He'll finish it soon, I am sure.

Hand held in a dark room, so I played a bit in Photoshop. Original below.

Nikon Coolpix 4500

I'm not usually a fan of these photoshop effects to save photos but for some reason I am quite taken with this one. I love how it enhances the light you had and gives everything a kind of magical glow which goes well with the subject of the photo.

Lovely! This is awesome. (It hurts when you drop it on your nose, let me tell you! The wrists get quite tired after a while. Wonder how many visits to the emergency room this book has caused so far?) Love what you did with this in Photoshop -- the texture and color has such a classic "booky" feel to it -- like old parchment or something. Quite appropriate.

My flatmate in Lisbon used to share a flat in Oporto with J.K.Rowling. She was an English language teacher then, and just as poor as we remain! I have never been able to get into the books myself, and neither has Liam... but hasn't she done wonders for childhood literacy!

Great shot, Petesie. The effect you used makes this look like a very powerful children's book illustration. I have my copy and will read it on the plane.

Great shot Petesie just what a lot of kids and adults are doing right now. I hope it is as good as the others.

What fun! We are off to the shops soon to get our copy ... Mum gets to read first, then the kids get to fight over the copy! ;)

Such a nice idea and it probably matches the Harry Potter ambiance.

Great what you did with it. It is just a neat photograph, and your postprocessing really adds to the mood. Nice job.--Rene
