I probably should do an AnnLT "what is this"....but I'll tell you.
It is a Catkin, a horrible tassel (about two inches long) that is the male flower of our
oak trees that are busy reproducing and DRIVING ME CRAZY! The entire world
around here is covered with greenish yellow pollen.....cars are the worst, and
if you sit down outside you'd better wipe the chair first. The tassels look
like green worms, get in your hair, on your clothes, on your shoes and then are
dragged in. I could blow off the porches and deck twice a day and still they would
be everywhere. I love our Oaks, just not for these few weeks. So I've vented now, and
I know they will be gone soon, but none too soon! I got rid of my frustrations by
curving them...see below, and up close they look rather interesting.
