Before John came home, all he talked about was sitting on the front porch. Today when I saw
the reflection of our "yard" in his glasses it just touched my heart. He has his favorite work hat on, and you can see the "sweat" from his past efforts in our yard.

If I had written this yesterday it would be to tell you we had a terrible day. He did not eat, could not get out of bed, was on oxygen all day....I even had to call my daughter for help last night. This morning, Andre, one of his caregivers, came and he got up and wanted to sit outside. It is definitely one day at a time, but today was a good day. Below you can see him looking around and then he gave me orders where he wants a couple of trees planted......hope springs eternal and I am grateful.

Petesie, I saw this and didn't comment. I continue to admire both of you for your determination and strength. God bless both of you. Give John a BIG hug tonight.

This is such a loving image, Petesie. One day at a time is a good philosophy. Reminds me of one of my favourite Vinicius songs, Tomara (... a coisa mais bonita nesse mundo, é viver cada segundo, como nunca mais [the most beautiful thing in the world is to live every second as if it's your last]). Say hello to John for me.

He's looking like a cowboy ready to ride thru the back forty . . and it must be wonderful for him to sit on the porch and view his lovely yard in the company of the lovely wife!

It isn't easy getting old... Just this past weekend my mom and my aunt ended up in the same hospital in Atlanta, just doors away from each other, without knowing each was in there. Of course they didn't bother telling us "kids" either.

A moving portrait and story.
