DSCN7730

A Texas native plant I saw at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. I should have
written down the name....such a beautiful color, and then it turns brown and is
still an interesting looking plant. It was very windy so I had a difficult time
getting a photo. My friend says she has some growing near her house, so I'm going
to try to get a better one.

Thanks to Laine I can now identify it. It is an Eryngium leavenworthii. Thanks, Laine

Thanks for that link Petesie. Happy to help, though it was more good luck than knowledge on my part, Laine.

Laine, you are truly amazing. I checked the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower database and you are correct. <http://www.wildflower2.org/NPIN/Plants/Detail.asp?Scientific_Name=Eryngium%20leavenworthii

Petesie, could this by chance be an Eryngium ( a Sea Holly ) perhaps gigantum. ? Not completely certain however. The shade of purple is outstanding isn't it.

Wow - it sure is curious-looking. That shade of purple is just beautiful.
