Surprise on a Wildflower

This little wildflower is so small (maybe 1/2 an inch wide)
that I didn't know there was a fly (or is it a bee?) on it until I saw it on the monitor. I'd like to
identify it, but have looked through the books and the best I can do is say I think it
is some kind of Palafoxia.....but not sure. Anyway, I thought it was pretty.
It was growing in our hard, rocky, caliche soil.

I love when that happens! I can recall three or four times when I found a delightful insect in a photo only when I uploaded. What an interesting buggy! Nice, Petesie.

A lovely flower who wishes to remain anonymous, not realizing she has been immortalized here. What we call her is not so important as just looking and appreciating. Beautiful!

The flower is beautiful, I love the iridescent sheen on the petals. I didn't know a fly could be so cute.
