Pincushion Flower
(Scabiosa caucasica 'Butterfly Blue')

By the end of the day it was open half way.

The deer ate all of the watermelon. I found one piece: http://www.pbase.com/image/32194252

Much better day for John today. I'll take some photos there soon. He even asked for therapy today.

What an incredible patience you must have...and an eye for the beauty all around us! That goes for all the pictures you have posted, not just this one lovely flower on the very edge of blooming.

Oh dear Petesie, did you toss a coin ? These colours would win me over every time however.

Really beautiful image. Love the colours.

This is perfect. I think these are such interesting flowers -- I got my first of this type just a couple of months ago. It seems like they'd be so easy to get a great picture out of, but I've never gotten one like this yet -- Congratulations! I love the color and the 'moment' captured here.

Beautiful shot, Petesie. With only one petal open it really looks great. I'm glad John is better.

This is a beauty petesie, but I must say that your alternate is even better. Tough call for sure but oh my that little bug on that little flower was very special.

I absolutely love these flowers; when I had a garden in Wisconsin they were the ones I always looked for every morning...thanks for the look. And, I'm glad to know that it looks better for you and yours.

No, they open and stay open. Last a few days. I wish the butterflies would find them. I'll PaD an open one sometime.

Timed it just right for this; are they opened during the day, and then close up? Nice dof. Glad John is feeling better.

Good news all around, Petsie--except for the watermelon. At least you got a taste.
Clever shot to get this just opening. Good observation.
