Poinciana

Also called "Pride of Barbados" Now I'll wait for the butterflies to find it like last year:

There is a song about this tree lyrics by Buddy Bernier, recorded in 1944 by Bing Crosby
Don't know why anyone would sing to a tree!

Poinciana,
Your branches speak to me of love.
Pale moon is casting shadows from above.
Poinciana,
Somehow I feel the jungle heat.
Within me there grows a rhythmic savage beat.
Love is ev'rywhere,
Its magic perfume fills the air.
To and fro you sway,
My heart's in time,
I've learned to care.
Poinciana,
Though skies may turn from blue to gray,
My love will live forever and a say.

I have never heard of poinciana but I am going to be on the lookout for it now. This is an amazing looking bloom, and you have really captured the full scope of the colors here. Really great Petesie. Your garden must be one magical place -- you should charge admission. Okay, so maybe after I get finished being shown around the photographer's hot spots by Jypsee, I will come by texas way and you can show me around your butterfly garden?

I sometimes have a hard time capturing these shades of red and orange, but these are great.

Wow...that poinciana blossom is sure different from the ones in Florida; nice close-up.

You have captured the fire in the blooms. With or without it is a wonderful tree.
