Antheraea Polyphemus (Polyphemus Moth)

This is as close-up of a portion of the wing of a moth that I found
on the back tire of my car when I was helping
my husband get in this morning. After a couple
of photos I touched him so he would fly away,
but he didn't. I put him in a safe place and
went to the doctor's office. When I returned
he was still there, and I could see he was injured.
I really never got a good photo, and was sad that
I couldn't help. What can you do with an injured moth?

This is so beautiful, Petesie. When I saw the thumb I thought it was a peacock feather. Awesome.

Sun? What is that? We have had nine straight days of rain, and
more tomorrow. We have set records for June. Highs in the 70's and we are
talking usually 100+ Central Texas. I won't complain, and if there
is sun tomorrow I'll be sure to put him in it. Thanks, Carmen

This is fantastic. The others are great, too - it really is a beautiful moth. Do you think it was just cold and needed the sun to warm it? I didn't see any injury (not that you could splint its wing even if it was broken...)
