San Antonio, Texas ~ Circa Early 1930's

I uploaded photos to a gallery so my grandchildren could learn more about my Dad....the great-grandfather they never got to meet. He opened a "filling station" in 1931 when he and my Mom married. He was still working the day he suffered his fatal heart attack in 1978 at the age of 79.

Believe it or not: One man would check your tires, another your oil, another would clean your windshield while someone filled your tank.....a big believe it or not!

I love this photo.....can't sell much gas to a horse-drawn buggy!

Great slice of family life to share and treasure Petesie. I can remember one or two (an Esso and a Sinclair) that gave that service when I was a young boy. Great times and memories.

I remember when I was little they used to do that...check everything! It was cool....now, the only place they will NOT allow you to pump your own gas is in Oregon. This is one fabulous, special image. A keepsake for sure!!!!!!!

Wow, what a treasure! This is so nice that you are setting up a gallery for the grandchildren to learn more about their roots!

Love this photo. I started out in the gasoline business in 1972 but didn't last as long as your Dad. I was the guy on the windshield. Something you have in common with The Judd's (Wynona and Naomi) is their father and grandfather ran a service station his entire life as well.

Did you ever use a wood coke crate as a make-shift stool?
