Built in the 1980s, it has been only 20 years in use. It is to be replaced by a building earmarked for use by the European Parliament's administrative staff and the European Ombudsman.
O tempora, O mores. Time changes all. The Bacob building was not that old indeed. It just had a fews years service when I went to live there in 1989. There was a gasoline station on the other side of the railway bridge there, and turned that corner, I lived 50 meters down. I walked just a 100 meters every day to the EP, where I had my car and my bike parked permanently. When I came, the oval tower of the EP Hemicycle just started to rise by the elevator shafts. I have lived the building of all those large buildings and left when the one seen here on the left side in rue d'Arlon was just about to finish. The rotonde between the PE and Leopold station was at skeleton state at that moment.
