Atami is a resort city on the Pacific coast of the Izu 伊豆 Peninsula at the eastern end of the Shizuoka Prefecture 静岡県. It has many hot springs. We spent our time mostly at the Hotel New Akao, which is built into an ocean-facing cliff.
The next day we boarded the Shinkansen 新幹線 bullet train for Kyoto.
