Weeping Window (Beweinungsfenster)
|
The main picture depicts Mary, cradling the body of the crucified Christ. The upper middle is the last supper. The 2 small pictures show the resurrected Christ appearing to Mary Magdalene & Thomas. On the bottom stand Matthew, Mark, Luke & John, the writers of the 4 gospels. This is one of 3 large stained glass windows on the south (right) side of the Cathedral. The other 2 illustrate the birth of Christ & the coming of the Holy Spirit. They are all 19th century works donated by King Ludwigs I. |
