It has the world's best collection of Chinese painting, calligraphy, ceramics, and jade, all of which were moved from the Forbidden City in Beijing by the KMT Government when they fled here from the Mainland in 1949. As a result, the treasures were protected from rampages during the "Cultural Revolution" in China.
Photography is not allowed inside the museum.
