Plaster cast of one of many victims of Mt. Vesuvius eruption on 79 AD.
After killed by the intense heat, they were buried in volcanic ash which hardened like concrete. As their bodies decayed, cavities were left around their skeletal remains. Archeologist injected plaster into these cavities to make life size casts of their dying posture.
