The Broad Museum is a new contemporary art museum in Downtown LA. Opened in 2015, it is named after real estate developer Eli Broad, who financed the $140M building and its collection.
Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, the building features a white honeycomb façade called “the veil” over a concrete core. It has three floors. Level 1 is the lobby and gallery. Level 2 is houses its offices and storage for the collection. Level 3 is all gallery space with natural light. Prominent on its front façade is a large dimple called “Oculus”.
