The Barrel Racer

British Columbia

An experiment in processing, the result is
more illustrative than photographic.

It is also a composite of two images, both mine. I found the
background distracting enough to divert attention from the main
subjects, the rider and her magnificent horse.

Please feel free to hate it. :) Constructive criticism is always welcome.

I used to ride the barrels...this image brings back all of it...the dust, the sound of hooves and leather, the feel of the horse...love everything about this image. Awesome job! Becky Greife

Oh my goodness, Peter. This is spectacular work. The action is awesome, and you were even able to freeze it without raising the ISO. I do not find the background distracting at all, and the processing is beautiful. I will pass this on to my son in law, who is a car designer for Chrysler, Dodge in particular.

Even though it is processed it is done in a way that the beautifully creamy
cloud of dust is very natural. I think it does highlight the rider beautifully.
