I had a day trip with a Grigory from Sakhalin Island. I am fluent in English, Swedish and Thai but dont know a thing about Russian and he did not speak a word of English. Ha!
Well, our assistant came along: Google translate. And it worked wonderfully.
Grigory is a professional photographer and enjoys shooting wildlife as well. The main objective was to get pictures of birds in the field.
Khok Kham had beautiful light in the early hours and the many shorebirds showed well.
After some searching and waiting we were treated to a pair of Spoon-billed Sandpipers though a bit far away for photography.
Grigory was very happy and once birds were gone set out to photograph other birds in the area.
After quite some time I was able to relocate one of the birds and this time at a much closer range. This time the bird was feeding in rather muddy waters, something I dont see it do that often. Thus the 'mud skipper' look on some of the images!
