Lesser Mouse Deer

Bahn Maka, Kaengkrachan

I was in a hide by a waterhole waiting for birds to come. Then this wonderful little animal showed up.
At only 20cm and 1-2 kilo it is an incredibly small deer. It is very shy and difficult to spot in the forest. It approached the water hole very carefully.
Took small steps, stopped and waited until it was convinced no danger was around.

Nice animal Peter... its correct name in english is Lesser Chervrotain... although it is better known as Mouse Deer, indeed...

Big eyes since it is -in fact- a crepuscular animal.
