Hi ! A friend and I have just spotted a Double-Banded Plover on Penguin beach, North West Tasmania. We noted that the lower wide chest band was more of a dark grey colour rather than a chestnut colour. Obviously not fully developed. A long look was obtained from only 20 metres away with 8x40 binoculars. It was in company of a couple of Red- Capped Dotterels which are regularly seen here so a good comparison was obtained. I have never seen a Double-Banded Plover here before. Just lucky I suppose. It must be a late departure for N.Z. Cheers, Bill Brown
