Early morning moon (7am), taken in October 2008 with the Sigma 150-500 at 500mm with tripod.
Next shot shows the evening photo,the same night, the evening light is quite different from that of the morning.

Peter, you may get even better results when the moon is only half illuminated, many more crater shadows.
