Bea is an alt-fashion model from D.C. who responded to a modeling call of mine for a Victorian-goth shoot. We shot at 3 locations: The main door of the Baker Park carillon in Frederick MD (our starting point), Catoctin Furnace in Thurmont, 15 miles north of Frederick, and Burkittsville Cemetery in Burkittsville, about 10 miles south of Frederick. Fans of "The Blair Witch Project" will recognize the Burkittsville Cemetery. Bea provided her own wardrobe (an amazing outfit, by the way), and she was extremely professional and fun to work with.
She was very open to offering ideas, and we incorporated several. The prickly-burr plant shot at Catoctin Furnace was her idea, but it almost ended in disaster when the burrs started getting stuck in her hair and her clothes. It was a good idea that turned bad but ended perfectly! The bridge shot was also a challenge, as it was about 100 or so yards into the woods along the Furnace's interpretive trail, a natural forest trail of hills, roots, rocks, etc. She made the hike fully dressed in that outfit.
I consider the sepia gallery to be the primary series of this shoot, as it represents my true goal from this project. The color gallery represents those shots that weren't nearly flawed enough to delete altogether, but didn't turn out precisely the way I'd hoped. Rather than get rid of them, I decided to exaggerate the colors a bit to emphasize Bea's alt-fashion modeling background.
Bea's Model Mayhem gallery can be found below, and I'd recommend her in a heartbeat:
