Rita's Ice flavor blend experiment - 8-18-12

Our local Rita's Ice franchise and I follow each other on Twitter, and a couple weeks ago, Lori, the person responsible for their Twitter feed (owner, co-owner, manager, I'm not even sure), asked me my favorite flavor. I told her lemonade, and from there it morphed (quickly, I might add, so you could say it mutated) into me developing the most insane flavor blend I could think of. Well, the mix I decided on was as follows: Cotton candy, pineapple, lemonade, and Sour Patch Kids. I decided to call it "Death by Sweet & Sour." We were both getting really excited to create this beautiful mess, and tonight (8-18-12) Jen, Connor, and I went to meet Lori for Big Mix Day. I had mine blended, and Jen's was layered. Final verdict? My thoughts: the blended vesion was delicious and very smooth, but not as sour as I expected. In Jen's layered version, the flavors were, top to bottom, Pineapple, Sour Patch Kids, Lemonade, and Cotton Candy on the bottom. The sour layers really popped with flavor with hers, but you had to dig for them a little. Jen's opinion of hers was pretty much the same, but of mine, she suggested a little less Cotton Candy and a little more of either or both sour flavors. All in all a VERY successful experiment, and one I'll repeat often. Good thing we went when we did, as this was the last batch of Pineapple for the season. Need a substitute flavor for my Death by Sweet & Sour between now and winter!
