At the end of day 3 No 1 got sick, diarrhea, dehydration. In kittens that small this can be fatal.
Our regular vet still offers 3 week wait for an appointment. We had to go to local animal emergency care facility. My wife ends up waiting there for 3 1/2 hours!
We finally learn which is male (No 2) and which is female (No 1). The previous vet had it wrong! Examination under microscope shows no worms, no ear mites. No 1 is treated for dehydration, gets antibiotics and vitamins. The sad part is that we are supposed to go for checkup with him tomorrow to our regular vet (which we effectively no longer have). It looks like this will be animal emergency care facility again. My wife cannot afford another 3-4 hours, I will be probably taking ½ day off tomorrow.
The moral of the story seems to be that veterinary care in central NJ is getting as bad as our human health care is. Seems like willing to help critters in need and willing to pay for their care is not good enough.
The good news is that No 1 seems to be improving.
What a pitty. We had a very good experience with our local vet up until now.
