During the seventeenth century, the Netherlands—a small country with just two million inhabitants and virtually no natural resources—enjoyed a "Golden Age" of economic success, world power, and tremendous artistic output.
The Golden Age in the art is usually called the painting which flourished in the Netherlands, roughly in the 17th century. Masterpieces like of Rembrandt or Vermeer and famous paintings many other artists are from this period.
Painting flowered as artists focused on everyday scenes of ordinary life, expressed through a growing cadre of genre works, all indicative of the thriving creative period.
The enormous array of success held by artists within the Dutch Golden Age paved the way for artists to find their own style of art. Many future artists had become inspired from the period in Netherland's history where the economic and political dominance was accompanied by social and artist change.
