Jug ears?

Auckland, New Zealand

Self portrait of Max McRae

My hot water jug has a shiny reflective surface that I thought would make an interesting surface on which to do a self portrait. I found the closest focal length of the lens and manually focused holding the camera as you see and shot when the confirmation beep sounded. I too about 20 shots until I got a half decent shot that I was happy with. I was great fun and all done in a matter of minutes, such is the possibilities with such a camera.

I did of course edit in Photoshop for all the usual enhancements...as you do.

What got me to vote for this image was perhaps subjective: It somehow gives the feel of the person in one of the scenes of his natural habitat. To me, it has that exotic taste while for someone else it may be a bit part of the ordinary. Or maybe we generally don't emphasise on the ordinary enough in our pictures, I don't know. The idea is not original, but it still carries a certain sense of humor.
