This mosaic depicts Empress Zoe with her third husband Constantine IX. In the centre we see Christ, his right hand raised in a gesture of benediction. The faces are interesting to examine closely. Zoe who was already 50 at the time of her first marriage is shown like a 20 year old. With every marriage of the empress, she had the name of the former husband replaced. Thos changes are visable in the upper left corner.
