OK, I've given up AftertShot due to lack of Nikon Z support (and instability). I never figured out how to get the colors right with RawTherapee or DarkTable, so I moved to Mac & Nikon Capture NX-D, which is freely downloadable.
With NX-D I use Image Magic for sharpening. I am really happy with the results - I should have done this years ago. NX-D has broad functionality and probably the best possible quality, but it is somewhat illogical and slow: deleting a RAW file takes a long time, and it returns to the previous RAW, not the next one.
